Here is a list of the events Simply Books is running as part of Independent Booksellers’ Week . This is an annual, national campaign to celebrate and promote independent bookshops and the important part they play in their local communities. It’s also a way to thank our customers for their loyalty and support.
Storytime for Grown Ups!
Monday 14th June 7.30pm
This is an opportunity to share some of your favourite short stories, poems, chapters from books, newspaper articles…anything at all.
It’s a chance to sit down with a glass of wine and enjoy the simple pleasure of being read to. We have done these events before from time to time and they are very enjoyable.
If you don’t want to read aloud just come along to listen – you’ll be amazed how relaxing it is.
This is a free event but booking is essential.
Walker Books is 30!
Wednesday 16th June
9.30am - 10.30am
To celebrate, we will be having a special themed birthday party. Walker have published some wonderful books over the last 30 years, including Guess how much I love you, We’re going on a bear hunt, Maisy, Where’s Wally? and many, many more.
Come along for stories and crafts.
This is a free event but please contact us to reserve your place.
Butterfly & Snails Day
Thursday 17th June
10.30am–12.30pm & 2.30pm-4.30pm
Drop in to Simply Books at the above times for coffee & cakes and let the children enjoy some butterfly crafts and stories.
We will also be racing snails!
While the children are busy there will be the opportunity to browse through some beautiful Phoenix cards and money raised through the sale of these will be donated to the National Children’s Hospice.

Imagine Writing Group
Run by Ali Cargill, this group meets fortnightly on Mondays at 5.30. All abilities welcome. Cost is £4.00 per session
